The Holy Spirit Building Committee exists to advise the Pastor and Pastoral Council on issues concerning long range strategic planning for Holy Spirit Catholic Parish facilities and the design, construction, maintenance and updates to such facilities. The committee consists of an executive committee with fifteen members and several sub-committees. The Executive Committee is primarily concerned with creation and execution of the Parish Master Plan by soliciting and utilizing parish input, working with outside consultants as needed, following diocesan building procedures and policies, and reporting progress to the parish on a timely basis. The sub-committees are concerned with the details of planning, design and construction of their individual projects.
The Sub-committees are:
Currently the two projects of our Master Plan that are most active are the Columbarium and Memorial Garden and Handicap parking.
Memorial Garden, Columbarium and Bell Tower: Construction on the first of eight columbarium units and the Memorial garden was completed in May 2013 and dedicated by the Bishop on Memorial Day 2013. Funding for the garden and columbarium comes from pre-sale of the niches and other components of the garden. Another columbarium unit was added in early 2016. The Memorial Garden continues to grow and flourish thanks to volunteers who tend to the plants. The bell tower will be added to the Memorial Garden at a future date.
Handicap parking: In the Master Plan, the Building Committee has planned for future growth in the parish and its infrastructure by including a
second parking lot to the east of the church. There is an immediate need, however, for increased handicap parking. Recently. the Parking Sub-committee finalized the plans for more handicapped parking on the east side of the church building. The lot has been paved and landscaped, and has been utilized by numerous parishioners and visitors.
